In 1945, Logan (Hugh Jackman) is held in a Japanese POW camp near Nagasaki. During the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Logan rescues an officer named Ichirō Yashida and shields him from the blast. In the present day, Logan lives as a hermit in Yukon, tormented by hallucinations of Jean Grey, whom he was forced to kill several years ago. He is located by Yukio, a mutant with the ability to foresee people's deaths, on-behalf of Yashida, who is dying of cancer. Logan will accompany Yukio to Japan so that he may repay his life debt. There, Wolverine faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
