Eric (Sam Rockwell) and Amy Bowen (Rosemarie DeWitt) are a married couple looking to buy a house for themselves and their three children: 16-year-old daughter, Kendra (Saxon Sharbino), their 9-year-old son, Griffin (Kyle Catlett), and 6-year-old daughter, Madison (Kennedi Clements). Eric was recently laid off, but they are shown a house that has recently come on the market that fits their price range, so they purchase it and move in. Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan reimagine and contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her.
