Nick Fury is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., an international peace-keeping agency. The agency is a who's who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. S.H.I.E.L.D. has located the mysterious Tesseract device. The Tesseract is actually a gateway to an entirely new world called Asgard. A mysterious being known as Loki arrives on earth, escapes with the Tesseract and immediately assumes that he can rule all human beings. The Avengers have to unite and stop Loki and his infinite wrath.
